Looking back at 2020, a year of worry and inspiration, we saw that in the struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic, people across the world more closely paid attention to personal health and hygiene.


其中,与日常生活关系最为密切的个人健康卫生护理问题,也成为大家愈加关注的重点。在我们享受日常便利时,也有无数个或意外或惊喜的“第一次”见证了人们在这一领域中的创想与智慧……

As billions of people today enjoy daily conveniences resulting from developments in personal health and hygiene, the countless unexpected firsts from industry players over the years remain impressive and demonstrate creativity and wisdom in this area.




医用绷带?姨妈巾的隐秘发展史


第一次世界大战期间,伤员所使用的绷带原材料来自于吸水力较强的纤维棉,有护士顺手拿来当姨妈垫,却没想到效果不错。于是一个美好的阴差阳错诞生了——原本作为医用绷带的纤维棉转而投入到卫生巾的制造中,金佰利旗下的“高洁丝”成为第一个被广泛接纳的卫生巾品牌。

During the First World War, a great unintentional invention was made-cellucotton, which was originally used to make bandages. It later found its way into women’s sanitary towel production. Kotex from Kimberly-Clark became the very first widely recognized sanitary towel brand.



为照顾女性顾客的购买体验,在那个观念还很保守的时代,金佰利不仅想出了自助式售的方式方便顾客购买,更是加大对月经常识的普及,让大家正视月经现象,成为首个对大众进行经期教育的品牌。

To improve female customers’ experiences during a conservative time, Kimberly-Clark launched discreet self-serving facilities and began providing education about menstruation, making it the first brand to educate the public in this area.




1921年,高洁丝在美国《妇女家庭杂志》上刊登了第一份卫生巾广告;1929年,高洁丝破天荒采用真人代言卫生巾广告,打破了在公共场合讨论经期卫生的“禁忌”。

In 1921, Kotex put the first sanitary towel advertisement in the Ladies’ Home Journal. In 1929, it released the first menstrual hygiene ad ever to show a real person, removing the taboo on publicly discussing menstruation.


1932年,高洁丝发行了《马乔里?梅的12岁生日》,向青春期少女介绍生理卫生知识。1946年,高洁丝与迪士尼合作拍摄了动画片《月经的故事》,让女孩们了解到,月经是她们生命历程中,一种健康的自然生理现象。

In 1932, Kotex published the puberty and menstruation booklet Marjorie May’s 12th Birthday, and teamed up with Disney to produce the animated film The Story of Menstruation in 1946, to teach adolescent girls about personal hygiene.

With the growing cosmetics industry further stimulating consumer demand for makeup-removing tissues, Kimberly-Clark officially introduced Kleenex in 1924.



一次偶然的机会,金佰利公司管理层发现有顾客用舒洁来擦鼻涕。经调研发现,高达61%的消费者把原本定位于卸妆产品的舒洁纸巾当作一次性纸巾使用。于是,可丢弃的手帕”就此诞生

According to a survey at the time, as many as 61 percent of its customers actually used Kleenex tissues designed for removing makeup as disposable tissues. That led to the invention of disposable handkerchiefs.


一次性纸巾的发明给人们生活带来了巨大的便利,擦完眼泪、鼻涕就能扔掉的纸巾不仅方便、卫生,还能避免细菌传染,现在已经成为生活必需品。

Disposable tissues that can be thrown away immediately after use are not just convenient and hygienic but are able to combat the spread of bacteria. They have long since become a necessity in daily life.



妈妈的拥抱?母婴护理的理想归宿

如何能够让宝宝的臀部保持干燥的健康状态?如何减少甚至完全消除纸尿裤的渗漏问题?是否有可以重复使用的粘胶带让妈妈更省力气?自投入市场开始,这三个难以相互平衡的问题就成为多家纸尿裤厂商的困扰。

How is it possible to keep a baby’s hips healthily dry? How can we reduce or even eradicate leaks from baby’s diapers? Can we reduce mothers’ workloads with reusable tape for diapers? These three questions had long been headaches for makers of paper diapers.



1971年,金佰利的传奇CEO达尔文·史密斯上任,带领团队基于市场观察与对上述三个问题的综合考量,于1978年推出好奇纸尿裤妈妈的拥抱”成为解决上述三个问题的答案

In 1971, Darwin Smith, CEO of Kimberly-Clark, led the team in introducing Huggies paper diapers based on market insight on those three questions in1978, making "a hug from mom" the answer.


如今,好奇纸尿裤已经成为越来越多妈妈的选择,使其不仅能够更舒心地陪伴宝宝自在释放好奇与天性,更节省出时间,不再为生活所累。

Nowadays, Huggies has become the choice of more and more mothers, allowing them to not only worry less about their babies but more importantly save time for themselves.

In 2019, it began participating in the Sichuan Liangshan Carnation Health Program by offering local elementary and middle school students Kotex products for free.


2020年起,金佰利携手中国社会福利基金会,在武汉正式启动女生不简单”青春期健康公益项目,传递生理健康、心理健康与青春期保健等相关知识。

It also partnered with China Social Welfare Foundation in 2020 to officially launch the She Can teenage health project in Wuhan, Hubei province to spread awareness about adolescent physical and mental health.
